Meet the Artist

My name is Yasin UCA. You’ve probably seen it across this website by now — but let me introduce myself properly. I’m a young glass artist based in Turkey. Like many artists, my journey didn’t begin with clarity. I experimented with nearly every form of art throughout my youth, yet none of them felt like home — until I met glass.

I studied at Hacettepe University, but it took me years to realize I had chosen the wrong academic path. My first real connection with glass wasn’t in a workshop, but in childhood — through the chaotic beauty of shattered windows and broken bottles. Later, in high school, I began painting anime characters on glass using spray paints and markers. It was the beginning of something that would soon become an obsession.

What fascinates me about glass is how utterly ordinary it seems — and how invisible we let it become. We look through it, we break it, we forget it exists. But for me, glass is not just a surface or a barrier; it’s a medium of truth. Like life, it cracks under pressure, it transforms under force. And just like life, it can be shaped — not by avoiding impact, but by embracing it. Every piece I create is a dialogue between control and chaos, fragility and resilience.
