How Much Does Broken Glass Art Cost? A Collector’s Guide to Prices
What determines the price of a hand-fractured portrait — size, detail, materials and risk — with real price ranges from the Cracasso collection.

“How much does broken glass art cost?” is one of the most frequent questions the studio receives. The honest answer: it depends on size, detail and whether you buy a finished work or commission your own. This guide explains what shapes the price of a hand-fractured portrait, using Cracasso’s own price list as a reference.

Current price ranges at Cracasso
- Ready works from the collection currently range from $2,000 to $2,500 — for example The Creation of Adam at $2,000, Apollon and Dionisos at $2,400, and Sadie at $2,500.
- Custom commissions start at $1,200, depending on the design.
All prices are in US dollars, for a finished, framed, signed and certified original.
What determines the price
Detail and density
A face built from dense, fine fractures takes far longer than a light, open composition — even on the same sheet of glass. Eyes, hair and skin texture demand the most strikes and the most care, because a single misplaced impact cannot be undone.
Size
The glass format matters: a compact work around 50 × 50 cm, a standard format around 80 × 75 cm, or a large piece of 100 cm and more for a lobby or a living room. Larger glass means more strikes, more material and a larger crate.
Materials and finish
Every work is made on laminated safety glass, backed in black and framed in black 6063 aluminium, ready to hang. A signed certificate of authenticity travels with it.
Risk
Broken glass art has no eraser. A strike in the wrong place late in the process can ruin hours of work, and some pieces must be started again. Part of the price is the time that never appears in the finished work.
Shipping and payment
Listed ready works ship free worldwide with FedEx International Express in a custom wooden crate, typically arriving 5–7 business days after dispatch; import duties and local taxes are paid by the buyer. Ready works are paid in full by bank transfer through Wise; commissions start with a 40% deposit once the design is agreed. Card payment through Etsy’s checkout is possible on request. Details are on the shipping, returns and terms page.

Ready work or commission?
A ready work is available immediately and you see exactly what you get. A commission starts from your own photographs and takes about 2–3 weeks from design approval to dispatch. If you are unsure which suits you, read From photo to fractured portrait, or browse the available works and the commission page.
