The story

It began with shattered windows.

Like many artists, Yasin’s path didn’t begin with clarity. He tried nearly every medium — stained glass, string art, mosaic, carving, painting — and none of them felt like home until glass.

His first connection with it came in childhood, through the chaotic beauty of broken windows and bottles. In high school he began painting characters on glass with spray paint and markers. It became an obsession.

What fascinates him is how ordinary glass seems, and how invisible we let it become. For him it is a medium of truth: like life, it cracks under pressure and transforms under force — shaped not by avoiding impact, but by embracing it.

Why glass?

“Because it’s the only material that hides its soul until you dare to break it. What others see as weakness, I reveal as strength: light passing through its wounds, rewriting its story each time you shift your gaze.”

A hand that keeps reaching up.

Dedicated to Farkhunda Malikzada, who was killed by a mob in Kabul in 2015, the work shows a hand reaching upward out of the fractures. It was exhibited at the Aydın Women’s Rights Protection Association on 4 February 2026.
